Here’s some magical news that’s making waves at Walt Disney World this summer: for the first time since 2019, both of Disney’s water parks—Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach—will be open at the same time! Starting May 21 through September 7, families can enjoy all six Disney parks (yep, that includes the four theme parks plus these two water-filled favorites).
And here's the cherry on top: when you stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel in 2025, you get FREE water park admission on your arrival day. Before you even unpack your suitcase, you can slip into a swimsuit and dive straight into the fun. Talk about starting your vacation with a splash!
I get asked often-- which water park is best? Honestly, they’re both amazing in their own way. Let's get into what makes each park unique!
Typhoon Lagoon: Tropical Vibes & Epic Waves

Typhoon Lagoon is all about laid-back island energy with a twist of adventure. Legend has it a typhoon blew through and turned this peaceful paradise into a playful, water-filled wreckage (in the best way possible).
What to expect:
Massive wave pool with legit body-surfing waves
A relaxing lazy river (Castaway Creek) that’s perfect for floating your cares away
Crush ‘n’ Gusher, a water coaster that feels more like a thrill ride
Family raft rides, tube slides, and splash zones for little ones
If your dream day involves sunshine, palm trees, and floating along while the kids burn off energy—this is your spot.

Blizzard Beach: A Melting Ski Resort Turned Water Playground
Blizzard Beach is pure Disney creativity: imagine a freak snowstorm in Florida that left behind ski lifts, snow-capped mountains, and slalom slides... but now it’s all melting into watery fun.
Here’s what makes it special:
Summit Plummet – a straight-down speed slide that’s not for the faint of heart!
Tons of family-friendly slides and group raft rides
A snowy-themed lazy river and a kid zone designed just for younger adventurers
Ski lodge-style theming that makes it totally unique
This one’s perfect for kids (and grown-ups) who like a little bit of adrenaline with their water fun.
Bonus Magic: H2O Glow After Hours Is Back!

If you’re more of a “beat the heat and party after dark” kind of family, don’t miss H2O Glow After Hours at Typhoon Lagoon. Select nights between May 23 and September 13, the park transforms into a glowing nighttime bash with shorter wait times, fun dance music, complimentary snacks, and Toy Story characters joining the fun.
Even better? Kids’ tickets are just $42.50 (that’s half the price of adult tickets). It’s a fun, lower-key way to do Disney—especially in the summer heat.
Ready to Dive In?
If you already have a Disney trip on the books—amazing! Let’s make sure we add some water park time to your plans. But if you don’t have anything lined up yet? This is one of those limited-time perks that’s totally worth jumping on. The free water park access on arrival day is such a great value—plus, with both parks open, there’s never been a better time to cool off Disney-style.
Let me know if you want help planning your summer escape—I’d love to help you build a trip that’s full of fun, memories, and a whole lot of splash!
